I want to create clothes, shoes, bags and accessories that are relevant to right now — modern, exciting designs that women will desire and appreciate.'Credited with turning around the fortunes of French fashion house Chloé, which she joined with college friend Stella McCartney, it was Philo who was lauded as the saviour of the brand, and for turning it into the much lusted after label that it quickly became. She joined as the right-hand woman to her friend, a role she stayed in for four year until McCartney left in 2001 to create her own label. Taking the reigns of creative director, Philo's Chloé became one of feminine boho cool, which spawned a distinct signature look, much copied. She left the label in 2006, to spend more time with her young family. Her first collection for Celine will debut in March, for autumn/winter 2009. ?Notice to our readers…We'd like to let you know that this site uses cookies. Nominated for ten awards, the singer has set a record for most awards won in a single year by a solo female and this brings her career total up to 16.'I'd like to thank my family including my husband, I love you,' she said, referring to rapper Jay-Z.The other big news of the night was the appearance of Michael Jackson's children. Paris and Prince accepted a lifetime achievement award for the king of pop, who passed away in June last year. 'To all his songs, his message was simple, love,' 12-year-old Prince Michael said. 'We will continue to spread his message and help the world.'The children appeared after a rousing performance of Michael Jackson's Earth Song, with a recording of Jackson accompanied by live performances from Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson and Jennifer Hudson.Country star Taylor Swift picked up four prizes, including the coveted album of the year title for her record Fearless, she also won best country album. Other artists including The Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z and Kings of Leon all picked up three trophies each, while Lady GaGa and Eminem won two apiece.?Taiwan talent show contestant Lin Yu Chun is becoming an internet sensation just like Scottish singer Susan Boyle after belting out a note-perfect rendition of ‘I Will Always Love You.'The 24-year-old - who even looks a little like Susan Boyle - has become a massive hit on and . His rendition of the Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton hit on karaoke TV show Super Star Avenue blew the judges away. The amazing performance recalled the way Susan astonished Britain's Got Talent judges with her version of I Dreamed A Dream. The clip of her stunning Simon Cowell with the song from Les Miserables has now clocked up 90million hits on YouTube alone. In his red bow tie and sporting a nerdy bowl haircut Lin is hardly a heart-throb, but on talent alone he is the bookies' favourite to pocket the £650,000 grand prize in the contest and secure an album deal, and, like Susan before him, shows you can't judge a book by its cover.Lin used to lock himself in his room and sing along with records of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, and said he had long suffered from a lack of confidence because of his plain looks and rotund figure, admitting that ‘being fat draws a lot of mockery in our society.'He has already racked up some 1.3 million views on YouTube, and the number is climbing fast. He said the show could change his life: ‘I now have more confidence in pursuing a singing career. You don't have to be a good-looking man or woman to succeed. Just be yourself and try your best.' ? longterm hairstylist, Chris McMillan, has revealed the inspiration behind the bob that got the world talking this week, revealing it was simply 'just time for a change.'The hair guru told Allure: 'We had a blast doing it, and we've always liked this haircut. It's about keeping things simple.'So how about if you want an Aniston bob? Ask your hairdresser for 'a hairline bob that follows the jawline down. It's shortened in back and longer in front,' Macmillan describes. He added that inspiration came from catwalk looks at Celine and YSL, stating 'I’m loving bobs again. It’s a sexy look.'As for the colour, Macmillan confirmed that the actress hadn't gone lighter, 'It's so funny. This is something that happens all the time: Whenever I cut someone's hair, they say, 'My color looks so much better. The color kind of freshens up when you get a drastic haircut.'Are you loving Jennifer's new look? Let us know in the comments box below...?It goes without saying that we're all completely in love with and , but who knew the French were so taken with them too?Our friends across the Channel have voted the Duke and one of their favourite married couples, even choosing them above Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. While loose curls are something of a Holmes signature, she typically errs towards gentle waves rather than this more structured look. Mrs Cruise was out to promote her latest movie, in which she stars alongside John C. Reilly and Kevin Kline. Keeping things low key, she opted for a casual vibe in a striped Celine jumper dress and black Roger Vivier Belle de Nuit pumps. What do you think of Katie's curls? But as if an expected number one album wasn't enough, Leona has also just announced that she's recorded the theme tune for a big blockbuster film.Leona will perform the closing credits song for Titanic director James Cameron's hugely anticipated new film, Avatar. The track, entitled I See You, has been produced by James Horner and Simon Frangle - the duo behind the hugely successful Titanic theme tune, My Heart Will Go On, performed by Celine Dion. Sci-fi film Avatar, which stars Sigourney Weaver and Sam Worthington, centres around an alien race fighting against human invasion, and is expected to set new standards in silver screen special effects. Leona's song will feature on the film's soundtrack, Avatar: Music from the Motion Picture, out in December. ?Titanic director James Cameron has predicted the soundtrack for his next blockbuster, Avatar, could be as big as Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On' - if only he can persuade its singer, , to release it. track, 'I See You', has already been selected as the official soundtrack for Cameron's sci-fi movie, in cinemas next week, but the uber-director is said to be having trouble persuading the star to enter it into the charts.Despite the song's potential to emulate the success of Celine's ballad, which was no.1 all over the world and remains one of the best-selling singles of all time, she is said to be reluctant to release a single so soon after her last hit, 'Happy.'A source said: ' was delighted to be part of Avatar but the song was never supposed to be released. But her cover of Run wasn't supposed to be released either - and look how well that did.'In a bid to sway opinion, Cameron has reportedly offered the 24-year-old a sneak preview of the £300m movie, the most expensive film ever made. Having listened to the track, which received input from James Horner, who also worked on Celine's 'My Heart Will Go On', we reckon could have a global hit on her hands. So why not celebrate it? ?Madonna has been named the world's highest earning female music artist, in the Forbes magazine Cash Queens of Music list.Earning a massive £36.2 million between June 2006 and June 2007, Madonna took the top spot, with the bulk of her earnings coming from her Confessions world tour, which grossed a huge £130 million worldwide.A clothing line with H&M, also added to the Material Girl's wealth, as did a deal with NBC to exclusively film the Wembley leg of her tour. Barbara Streisand, the oldest of the list's singers, came in second with £30.1 million, and Celine Dion was third with £22.6 million. For the full top ten, see below:1 Madonna £36.2m2 Barbra Streisand £30.1m3 Celine Dion £22.6m4 Shakira £19.1m5 Beyonce £13.5m6 Gwen Stefani £13m7 Christina Aguilera £10m8 Faith Hill £9.55m9 Dixie Chicks £9m10 Mariah Carey £6.5m?Ever since was sensationally sacked from in March following his anti-Semitic rant, many a rumour has been swirling about who is likely to take his place at the famous fashion house.Well, we maybe a little closer to finding out as reports surfacing on WWD this morning suggest that is in talks to take over as creative director of Dior. It’s understood that Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of the French luxury goods conglomerate, LVMH, which owns Dior, is willing to reshuffle some of the designers within his group to fill the vacant spot. This would see , who currently designs for Louis Vuitton, take over at Dior and Celine’s Phoebe Philo replace him at Vuitton, as well as continue to design for the French luxury label. Other contenders who were hotly tipped for the Dior job, including Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, are all reportedly out of the running with Jacobs allegedly ‘excited’ at the prospect of joining Dior. While Jacobs and Dior are keeping schtum on the matter, talks between the American designer’s legal representatives and the fashion house are expected to be finalised this week in Paris.Watch this space.?BjorkIt’s an oldie but a goodie – Bjork’s 2001 swan dress drew gasps – and giggles – from the crowd (spot the cheeky grin behind her right shoulder). As if wearing a ‘swan’ wasn’t bad enough, Bjork went even further and accessorised the outfit with a (freshly-laid?) egg handbag. Plus, everyone knows that saggy tan granny-tights are a no-no, but an all-in-one version? It really couldn’t get much worse, Bjork. |
